Vanilla Hackintosh EL Capitan: Install OS X EL Capitan in PC with MacPwn

This guide explains how to install OS X EL Capitan on Hackintosh with MacPwn and Clover or Chameleon bootloader, MacPwn is a tool to make vanilla USB in Mac OS X, its been under development since the release of OS X Mavericks

Note: This guide is for Hackintosh users Mac Users follow the guide How to Make a Standalone OSX EL Capitan Installer with MacPwn Legacy
Read this guide completely once before starting to make the Installer

Setting up BIOS is very important to use hackintosh, without proper Bios settings your computer will not boot Mac OS X

MacPwn can create a bootable EL Capitan Installer USB with Clover UEFI bootloader, Clover Legacy bootloader or Chameleon bootloader, the current MacPwn version supports only OS X EL Capitan, “Install OS X EL Capitan.app” can be downloaded from Hackintosh Computer, any how this Utility can be used with any latest EL Capitan versions from AppStore but you have to Extract and replace the kernel with Pacifist, this limitation will be fixed soon

In case if you want to Install your own bootloader follow MacPwn Vanilla Legacy Guide to make a USB & Install Clover or Chameleon to the USB Volume
(Some times you may need Hackintosh Zone account to download macPwn)

Download MacPwn EL Capitan.
Download “Install OS X El Capitan.app” directly or from AppStore.

How to Install MacPwn EL Capitan

First you must erase a USB as “OS X Extended (Journaled)” with Disk Utility make sure the USB storage is at-least 8GB

Make Sure you have “Install OS X El Capitan.app” in Applications folder, or you can download from the link provided above.

Copy OS X El Capitan Installer to Application Folder

After erasing the Volume open the downloaded MacPwn EL Capitan Installer

Open Hackintosh Vanilla MacPwn EL Capitan

Accept the dialog “This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed”
Accept Hackintosh MacPwn This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed

Agree License Agreement
Agree the Licence Agreement EL Capitan MacOS

Click Change Install Location
Click Change Install Location Hackintosh MacPwn

Click “Install on Specific Disk”
Click Install on Specific Disk Hackintosh MacPwn

Select the Volume name of the USB that you erased & click continue
Select the Erased USB Volume

Click customize to select the Bootloader
Click Customize EL Capitan

Select the bootloader that you wish to install to make the USB bootable,
Chameleon or Clover Legacy bootloader is recommended, but if your Motherboard support UEFI then try Clover UEFI
to customize the org.chameleon.Boot.plist use Chameleon Wizard or Champlist Application
to customize config.plist of clover use Clover Configurator Application
in case if you have a custom bootloader, you can install it to the usb after MacPwn Installation
Select the Bootloader Type Hackintosh Vanilla MacPwn

The process will take some time to finish it depends on the speed of your Hard disk and Flash drive
Wait for Installer to Complete The Tasks Enter Your Password Hackintosh Vanilla MacPwn

How to Install?

Restart & boot using the USB that you made
if you have trouble booting read the guide Debugging your Hackintosh for boot-flags

It may take some time, after it loads

Select the language its better to select English as the guide continues in English

For a new installation of OS X, you MUST erase and format the destination drive according to the following steps before continuing.

In the top menubar choose Utilities, and open Disk Utility
Highlight your target drive for the installation of El Capitan in left column.
Click Erase button
For Name: type Mac or any names as you wish
For Format: choose OS X Extended (Journaled)
For Scheme: choose GUID Partition Map
Click Erase
Close Disk Utility

When the installer asks you where to install, choose Mac, or the name that you used upon completion, the system will automatically restart.

you must use the same bootable USB to boot EL Capitan
In Clover Select “Boot Mac OS X from Mac”
In Chameleon Select the Volume “Mac”

This will load into user account creation process, create your user account & when you reach your desktop you must make your Hard disk bootable and install necessary kexts to Ensure the stability of Hackintosh

You must install Clover or Chameleon boot-loader to Hard disk to make it boot itself without USB
Download Chameleon Enroch from Hackintosh Zone or here

If you Install Chameleon make sure to tick “KernelBooter_kexts under “Kernel Patcher”
Tick KernelBooter_kexts in chameleon installer

edit /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist & add the following text to disable System Integrity Protection in EL Capitan

 <key>CsrActiveConfig</key>
 <string>3</string>

Latest version of Clover can be downloaded officially from sourceforge
Clover users also need to disable System Integrity Protection they can achieve by adding the following text to clover config.plist

<key>RtVariables</key>
 <dict>
 <key>CsrActiveConfig</key>
 <string>0x3</string>
 <key>BooterConfig</key>
 <string>0x28</string>
 </dict>

Installing Necessary Kexts
Use Kext Wizard to Install Required Kexts

FakeSMC.kext is one of the most required kext for Hackintosh
NullCPUPowerManagement.kext or Disabler.kext must be installed in order to avoid kernel panic by AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
If you have any USB Issues Install “USB Fix EL Capitan Kexts”
“Hackintosh El Capitan Kexts” contains general chipset kexts including FakeSMC
VoodooPS2Controller.kext is needed for those who use a TrackPad (Laptops) & PS/2 Devices (KB & Mouse)

After completing all the above steps you’re ready to Boot your Hackintosh.
